All Clan colors are worn with black. Bands of the metallic colors may be added as appropriate. Different shades of Clan colors are sometimes used to denote House or rank within a Clan. Clan insignias are not worn but rather added to buildings, ships, wall hangings, etc.

Bands

Athmari wear armbands to signify rank. The top ring of the band represents rank within an organization or military unit (otherwise designated by uniform or an insignia). The middle ring represents Clan affiliation and the bottom ring represents House affiliation. The last two can be a great sticking point where female offspring of inter-Clan and interracial relationships are concerned. Kado Betandi has permission to wear the secondary colors of both her mother-Clans, with the stipulation that Clan Vi's blue be used for the second band. (Her use of the name Betandi is more convention than anything else; her breeding license - unlimited by the way - came from Clan Vi.) Shanin Betandi earned her Clan's colors by serving in the Imperial Guard. No other example cases (other than Clan Vi opening its arms to Shanin's granddaughters, which is to be expected as they are n'S'aryn) yet exist, but one has to suspect that many Clans would not be so lenient.
