Description : Seleyn is an average (that is, rather tall) Betandi, standing about 5'10". He has white hair and deep, black eyes. As proprietor of Masquerades, the asteroid's nightclub for the elite among smugglers and rebels, he wears a goblin costume straight out of the hallucination scene in the movie "Labyrinth," complete with flowing sleeves, slightly high-heeled boots, and a wrinkly-faced mask (he also got his assumed name from this movie - go rent it if you haven't seen it; it's reeeeally good). His ears have been specially treated to imitate the mask's color and texture. This costume is never removed in public, even when he is presiding over The Pit, a slave-fight arena which he also owns. He is wary towards most other Athmari, other than his daughter, mate, and in-laws. Shanin's family tends to pop up in the bar from time to time, as does Shanin himself. Because of his deep cover and the fact that very few know he is Athmari, Seleyn pretends to be Shanin's lover. (This allows them to have a great deal of time alone together.) Seleyn has a quick wit and an even quicker sword arm. He tolerates other races only if they keep their commitments and pay promptly. He often makes dark jokes about the latter subject, which insure that late payments are very rare. No one is quite sure what, from his gnarled wood cane to the laces of his boots, on his body may be a weapon. He is an Athmari domyn, or weaponsmaster, but does not advertise this fact while away from his own kind. He also sells various, stronger intoxicants but is only known to take one himself. He never shares this personal drug with anyone, and it is said that the one person who stole some of it died soon afterward of a mysterious poison...

His mate, Iria, was killed by Clan Marigren when Shanin was very young; he hasn't really settled down again but he seems to have some sort of mutual agreement with Ekaterina Molokov despite the fact that most Athmari would be appaled by such a thing.
